Moving?

Whether you are moving down the street or across the country, moving is always memorable.  It can be a good memory or a bad memory.  The key to a smooth move is planning appropriately.

Moving Calendar

Two Weeks Before Moving

If you haven’t done so already, make arrangements to disconnect your utilities and get refunds for any deposits made. Then make arrangements to connect utilities at your new residence.

One Week Before Moving

Your mover is forbidden by law to move any flammable items.  You must dispose of or drain:

-  Lawn Mowers
-  Paint
-  Aerosol Cans
-  If living in Rental Property, make arrangements with the property manage for a walk-through.

The Day Before Moving

Make sure you have the payment needed for the mover.  Check ahead to find out what methods are acceptable.

-  Clean your stove, oven and microwave.
-  Defrost, clean and air out your refrigerator.
-  Take down drapes, curtains, shower curtains and rods.

Moving Day

-  Strip your beds.
-  Show Movers around.
-  Point out items you’ll be moving yourself.
-  Make sure your possessions to be moved are inventoried.
-  Check all rooms one last time before leaving the premises.

-  At your new residence, inspect all possessions once they have been removed from the moving van.
-  Have boxes set in the room you specified on the boxes.
-  Make sure any and all damage is listed before you sign off and make payment
